Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-10-19. This policy explains what NP Collaborator, LLC ("NP Collaborator", "we", "us") collects when you use NP Link, including NP Link Rates (the "Site"), how we use it, and your choices. It is part of our Terms and Conditions.
- Most of the Site works with no account. What you type is saved with an anonymous visitor ID, not your name, email or NPI.
- We never sell your personal information, and we never tell an insurer, platform or employer who you are or what you entered.
- We combine many NPs' entries into de-identified, aggregate statistics. We use those for research, published studies and reports, and to advocate and negotiate for better pay for nurse practitioners and other clinicians. Nothing published identifies you.
- No patient information, ever. Don't type any.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time.

1. What we collect
Information you give us
| What | Where you enter it | How it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| Rates you type | Check my rate, the home page check, your NPI rate card ("what you actually receive") | In your browser, and on our side with an anonymous visitor ID only (no name, email or NPI) |
| What you ask for ("I am requesting, per visit") | The rate letter on the home page and at /letter/ | Same as above: anonymous visitor ID only |
| Pay reports ("Count it anonymously", Report your pay) | Report and Check my rate pages | Without your name. If you add an NPI, we keep only a scrambled (hashed) version |
| How you are paid (direct, through a platform, as an employee) and which platform | The optional "How are you paid?" chooser | With the entry it describes |
| First name, last name, email, state | The free sign-up (unlock), state and insurer requests | With your account, along with the date and version of the Terms you accepted |
| Your dashboard (saved rates, requests, notes, target rates, outcomes) | Your free member dashboard | Private to your account |
| Messages to us | Email or forms | As sent |
Information collected automatically
- An anonymous visitor ID stored in your browser, so your checks, asks and dashboard can follow you on the same device.
- Device and log data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring page and time of visit, kept by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.
- Product analytics: which features are used, without NPI, email or dollar amounts (see section 5).
Public information
Rates come from insurers' public Transparency in Coverage files and public Medicare and Medicaid fee schedules. NPI lookups use the public federal NPPES registry. We do not buy personal data from data brokers.
2. How we use it
- To run the Site: show your comparison, build your letter, save your checks and dashboard, keep you signed in.
- To send what you asked for, and, with your consent under the Terms, occasional emails from NP Collaborator (section 6).
- To create de-identified and aggregate data (section 3) for research, studies, publications, benchmarks and advocacy, including negotiating with insurers, platforms, employers, associations and policymakers on behalf of nurse practitioners and other clinicians as a group.
- To understand and improve the Site, develop new features and services, and fix problems.
- To protect the Site and its users: prevent fraud, spam, scraping and false reports, and enforce our Terms.
- To comply with law and respond to lawful requests.
3. De-identified and aggregate data
De-identified data cannot reasonably be linked to you. Aggregate data combines entries from many people into totals, medians or ranges. We use the following standards before any figure built from users' entries leaves our systems:
- No names, email addresses, NPIs, tax IDs, practice names or visitor IDs.
- A minimum group size: a figure is published or shared only when at least 5 different people (or 5 billing groups, for insurer data) are behind it. Smaller groups are hidden.
- No free-text notes from your dashboard are ever published.
- We do not attempt to re-identify de-identified data, and we require anyone we share it with not to attempt it either.
Once data is de-identified or aggregated, it is no longer personal information. We may use, publish, license and share it for any lawful purpose, including research, studies, reports, press, academic work, product development, and advocacy and negotiation for nurse practitioners and clinicians, and we may keep it after you delete your account. Examples: "NPs in Ohio ask for a median of 18% more than their current 99214 rate," or a dated report on what platforms pay NPs in a state.
4. When we share it
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We never give an insurer, platform or employer your name, email, NPI or the individual rates you entered. We share personal information only:
- With service providers who run the Site for us under contract (hosting, database, analytics, email delivery), only as needed to provide their service.
- Within NP Collaborator, the company behind NP Link, under this policy.
- When you ask us to, for example a share link you create (it shows only what you chose to share; an offered rate is never included).
- For legal reasons: to comply with law, a subpoena or court order, to protect rights, property and safety, or to enforce our Terms.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger, financing or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
De-identified and aggregate data (section 3) may be shared with anyone, including insurers, platforms, professional associations, researchers, government agencies, partners and the public.
5. Cookies, local storage and analytics
We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser storage keys, all starting with nprc_ or nplk_. They remember your state, your anonymous visitor ID, your checks and asks on this device, whether you have signed up, and your sign-in. We do not use advertising cookies or sell browsing data. You can clear them in your browser settings at any time; parts of the Site may then forget your entries.
Analytics are anonymous product events with no NPI, email or dollar amounts. We honor Do Not Track: if your browser sends it, analytics do not load. We use PostHog (US servers) for these events and for masked session replays: everything you type is hidden, and NPI, email and access codes are stripped from page addresses. If you sign up free, your analytics are linked to your account by a scrambled ID (never your email, name or NPI), so we can see which features helped.
6. Email
If you give us your email and accept the Terms, we may send what you asked for and occasional emails from NP Collaborator about NP Link and services for nurse practitioners. Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe, honored within 10 business days. We don't send text messages from this Site.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and dashboard data: while your account is open. When you delete your dashboard, we delete your account, saved rates and requests; anonymous entries that were linked to it are unlinked and stay anonymous.
- Anonymous checks, asks and pay reports: as long as they are useful for statistics, and never with your name.
- Email consent records: as long as needed to prove consent and honor unsubscribes.
- Logs: for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
- De-identified and aggregate data: may be kept indefinitely.
8. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed sign-in tokens, scrambled NPIs on pay reports, access controls on admin tools and a managed database. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
9. Your choices and rights
- Access, correct or delete: email [email protected] with the email or NPI you used. Members can delete their dashboard themselves in its settings.
- Anonymous entries: because they are not tied to your name, we may not be able to find them unless you send your visitor ID (clearing your browser storage removes the copy on your device).
- Email: unsubscribe from any email.
- Analytics: turn on Do Not Track in your browser.
- We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.
10. State privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and other states with consumer privacy laws), you may have rights to know what personal information we hold, to get a copy, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale, sharing for targeted advertising, or profiling. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising and do not profile you in ways that produce legal or similarly significant effects. To make a request, email us as above; an authorized agent may request on your behalf with written permission. We will verify the request using the email on file and respond within the time the law requires. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our answer with the word "Appeal". We honor these requests for all users, whether or not your state's law applies to us.
11. Patient information and HIPAA
The Site is for nurse practitioners' own business information. It is not designed to receive protected health information, and you must not enter any patient names, dates of birth, record numbers or other patient details. NP Link Rates is not a covered entity or business associate service under HIPAA.
12. Children
The Site is for adults 18 and older working in health care. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Site changes. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and for material changes we will give notice on the Site or by email. Changes apply going forward.
